Welcome to Subscriber Economics
My name is Monica, and I’m one of the founders of Lightswitch. I write Subscriber Economics to dump out the ideas and observations about monetization on the internet that would otherwise drive me insane. I hope you’ll read some of it.
Pick a lane, pick it fully
A lot of people write extensively about pricing for enterprise software. I am not one of those people. I write about the universe of internet businesses that exist selling their software and services to customers who don’t have a procurement process or a CFO.
Digital media. Creator tools. Mobile apps. Newsletters. Social networks. Education. Personal productivity. Wellness. Games. E-books. Audio. Stuff like that.
I do this because 1. it’s what I know, 2. I think most major software products built over the next 10 years will sell to individuals and not enterprises, and 3. it genuinely feels kinda weird that no one else is also considering this possibility? When you have a weird feeling I think you have to follow it. This is my lane.
